We've heard from a number of candidates that have declared their intention to file for various offices, from local to federal. Some we are very excited about, others not so much. We'll get to that later, though. Right now, we're just trying to ensure that everyone is as informed as possible. The redistricting effort in Indiana did not go the way President Trump want, and however you may feel about that, some of the comments from those who are responsible for that concern us here at #DDD. We feel you should know about their motivations. As always, we here at #DionsDailyDose will continue to reach out to candidates to give them the opportunity to speak directly to YOU, the voter. Candidates, Comments, and Catastrophes
On November 5th, 2025, The Supreme Court met to hear arguments regarding the tariffs that the Trump administration has imposed. Trump argues that the IEEPA authorizes the President to impose restrictions and Regulate Trade (including tariffs). They are being countered by several arguments, including that the President cannot raise revenue, and that while the administration could STOP trade with any and all nations, they can't do so with any financial means. UAP/UFO Hearing
On 10/16/2025 the LaPorte County Council had a special meeting regarding the 2026 Budget and opened it up for public comment. This meeting was in regards to a proposed .20% increase to the LIT (Local Income Tax) which was just increased in 2022 from 0.95% to .45%. A number of the County Council members were surprised that this was even mentioned, as they had not requested it. This breakdown is to address some of the rumors and misconceptions (and misinformation) that is circulating. Although we at #DDD were unable to attend the meeting in person, we did review the full meeting on Access LaPorte County and we're looking forward to jumping into this. There were a number of public comments, ALL opposed to this increase. Let's face it- the choices on our ballot are usually awful... A rich jerk with a well-known name, someone that's been in government since before many of us were born, and sometimes a seemingly crazy person that has recently made the news for something less than stellar are generally the options when you get into the voting booth. We can (and should) do better. Some of us consider running for office. Some of us even look into it a little and often go "oh no thank you" because it can seem daunting, complicated, expensive, and what are the odds someone that isn't establishment is actually going to win anyway? Good news! It isn't as complicated or as out of reach as they would like us to think. I ran for US Congress in 2020 despite having never run for office before. I also ran for State Representative in 2020 and 2024. Obviously there were unique challenges there, but I learned a LOT and I'd like to pass along that info to you.
